Endurance Prevails by Invalidating Asserted Patents

Skadden secured a victory for Endurance Specialty Holdings, Ltd. in a case brought by SnowCast Solutions LLC, which alleged infringement of two of its patents, as well as claims for deceptive trade practices. Endurance moved to dismiss the case on the grounds that the two patents were invalid as abstract ideas under the Supreme Court's Alice precedent, and that the deceptive trade practices claims had no merit. On March 23, Judge Manish S. Shah of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois granted Endurance's motion in its entirety.
