Palo Alto tax partner Nathan Giesselman and counsel Christopher Murphy spoke at the 34th Annual High Tech Tax Institute, presented by Tax Executives Institute and San Jose State University November 5-6 in Palo Alto. Mr. Giesselman’s panel, “Decisions, Decisions — Capital Structures After TCJA,” discussed tax law changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). Mr. Murphy’s panel, “Federal Tax Controversy — New Approaches,” focused on new developments at the Internal Revenue Service and its Large Business and International Division, including regarding examinations and the TCJA and how data analytic tools are being used.
