On May 8, Skadden held its annual "Government Affairs Compliance and Pay-to-Play Restrictions Seminar," in New York. The seminar focused on the various government affairs and procurement compliance issues affecting many companies and trade associations, explaining the laws and regulations — and best practices — related to pay-to-play, lobbying, campaign finance, gifts and entertainment to public officials, conflicts of interest and shareholder initiatives. An overview of the SEC and MSRB municipal advisor rules also was provided. Skadden speakers included Washington, D.C. political law partners Kenneth Gross and Ki Hong; counsels Matthew Bobys, Melissa Miles and Patricia Zweibel; and associates Charles Ricciardelli and Tyler Rosen.
