The Palo Alto office held its sixth annual antitrust seminar and reception on January 26. "Antitrust in the Technology Sector: Policy Perspectives and Insights From the Enforcers," co-presented with economic consulting firm Charles River Associates, focused on the key antitrust and enforcement issues facing technology companies. The keynote speakers were Federal Trade Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen and European Commission Deputy Director-General Cecilio Madero Villarejo. Other guest speakers included Giulio Federico, the European Commission's chief economist team directorate general, and DeAnn Work, senior vice president, senior deputy general counsel and corporate compliance officer at Broadcom Corporation. Skadden speakers and event organizers were Brussels partners Simon Baxter, Ingrid Vandenborre and James Venit; New York partner Maria Raptis; Palo Alto partner Kenton King; and Washington, D.C. partner Steven Sunshine. The first panel focused on "Developing Trends and Theories in Merger Enforcement," and the second panel discussed "EU and U.S. Antitrust Enforcement in the (Single) Digital Market."
