Chicago tax partner Sarah Ralph spoke at “Real Estate M&A and REIT Transactions 2018,” a PLI program that was held January 19 in New York. Ms. Ralph participated in a discussion titled “Evaluating the Current Tax Landscape for REITS and Dealing With the Issues,” which focused on the impact of recent IRS guidance and law changes, REIT mergers and acquisitions, “downREIT” deals and tax protection, selected issues in taxable spin-offs, and considerations for U.S. REITs making non-U.S. investments.
