Opportunity Zone Funds Webinar

On July 12, tax partners David Levy and Nickolas Gianou held a webinar titled “Spotlight on Opportunity Zone Funds.” The recently enacted Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) created a new type of investment vehicle that provides significant tax incentives, including the deferral and elimination of capital gains taxes, to taxpayers who sell appreciated property and invest the proceeds in low-income communities designated as opportunity zones. The webinar explored the opportunity zone legislation, described the areas in which guidance will be needed, and addressed a number of structuring questions that have arisen in recent transactions.
