31st Annual Institute for Transnational Arbitration Workshop

Julie Bédard, the head of Skadden’s International Litigation and Arbitration Group for the Americas, spoke at the 31st Annual Institute for Transnational Arbitration Workshop, titled “Expect the Unexpected: Adjudicating Changed Circumstances in Commercial and Treaty Arbitration.” Ms. Bédard spoke during the session “Changed Circumstances: Practical Insights From Seasoned Arbitration Counsel and Arbitrators.” The session addressed the challenges that arbitration counsel typically face when arguing and resolving claims based on the principal legal doctrines and often-used contractual mechanisms designed to address changes in circumstances, as well as the contract negotiation and drafting strategies that can avoid or mitigate these challenges.
