Paola Lozano, co-chair of Skadden’s Latin America Group and head of the firm’s Spanish language corporate practice; Julie Bédard, head of Skadden’s International Litigation and Arbitration Group for the Americas; and international litigation and arbitration counsel Jennifer Permesly participated in the International Bar Association 2019 Annual Conference in Seoul.
Ms. Bédard serves as senior co-chair of the International Bar Association’s Arbitration Committee. She presided this year over significant changes, including the creation of a group for in-house counsel and a subcommittee on corporate social responsibility. Ms. Bédard was honored at a dinner attended by 300 participants.
Ms. Lozano was a speaker in a panel discussion titled “Joint Ventures in the Current Market.” Topics included key issues in negotiating cross border joint ventures, complex shareholders’ agreements and current trends.
Ms. Permesly participated in a panel titled “Innovating Arbitration Through Technology,” which focused on technology advances that can be used to enhance an international arbitration. In addition, she was appointed to serve as an officer of the Arbitration Committee, co-chairing a task force that will review the intersection of insolvency and arbitration.
