On October 12, Washington, D.C. financial institutions regulation and enforcement partners Alessio Evangelista and Eytan Fisch spoke during the American Conference Institute’s Forum on Digital Assets Compliance: AML, Sanctions & Fraud. During the panel “Former Government Officials Offer Unique Insight Into the Changing Regulatory Landscape and Grey Areas,” Mr. Evangelista discussed the evolution of enforcement and penalty risks involving cryptocurrency, anticipated trends moving forward and critical takeaways for meeting regulators’ expectations. Mr. Fisch participated in a panel titled “OFAC and FinCEN Updates: Trends and Priorities for Virtual Currency,” which focused on FinCEN’s 2022 Illicit Finance Strategy, new FinCEN alerts and red flags, and the need for a risk-based approach based on companies’ exposure.
