Bryan A. Burcat
Bio
Bryan Burcat represents a broad range of financial institutions, corporations and individuals in connection with litigation, investigations and enforcement actions brought by federal and state financial regulators and enforcement agencies. He also advises clients with respect to internal investigations and compliance-related matters involving consumer financial services. Mr. Burcat’s representations include:
- financial institutions in connection with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Department of Justice investigations and threatened private litigation regarding the Fair Housing Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act
- indirect auto finance companies in connection with federal and state investigations relating to alleged unfair, deceptive and abusive acts and practices
- a fintech company in mass arbitration proceedings
- a financial institution in False Claims Act and class action litigation
- a pharmaceutical company in trade secret litigation
- regulatory due diligence for initial public offerings and acquisitions
In addition, Mr. Burcat is committed to pro bono service and has advised immigrants on their appeals before the Bureau of Immigration Appeals, counseled a nonprofit arts organization in tort litigation and filed an amicus brief in the Second Circuit on behalf of immigration-related nonprofit organizations.
During law school, Mr. Burcat worked as a student attorney for Rising for Justice on behalf of clients in landlord-tenant court, interned in the National Security Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and externed in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State.
