Nan Hu

Dr. Nan Hu’s practice includes commercial, patent, criminal and trade secrets litigation.

He has experience in various technologies and industries, including telecommunications, lithium-ion batteries, robotics, medical devices, media streaming, hydraulic fracturing, foodservice equipment, high-speed seed planters, pharmaceuticals, photovoltaic modules and polyurethane spray systems. Dr. Hu has also advised clients on criminal and arbitration matters.

Dr. Hu’s experience, including prior to joining Skadden, includes:

• Defending a China-based nuclear company in a federal criminal proceeding concerning the Atomic Energy Act
• Defending a China-based mobile game company in copyright litigation against a major competitor
• Defending a Taiwan-based computer hardware manufacturer in patent litigation against a non-practicing entity, obtaining a favorable settlement
• Advising clients on third-party discovery in U.S. federal-court proceedings
• Defending a China-based photovoltaic module manufacturer in an ICC arbitration concerning breach of contract
• Defending a U.S.-based cellphone manufacturer in a patent case concerning lithium-ion battery technology
• Defending a China-based pharmaceutical company in a trade secret matter before the ITC
• Representing a China-based lithium-ion battery manufacturer in a declaratory action against a non-practicing entity
• Representing an agricultural machinery manufacturer in patent litigation involving high-speed planting technology, obtaining a favorable jury verdict
• Representing a leading home appliances company in litigation involving robotic technology before the ITC, obtaining an exclusion order against competing products
• Assessing patent infringement risks for a China-based fracturing equipment manufacturer
• Defending a manufacturer of spray polyurethane foam systems in patent litigation involving spray system design
• Defending a deep-fryer manufacturer in patent litigation involving fryer design against a non-practicing entity
• Defending a multinational company in patent litigation involving media streaming technology before the ITC
• Representing a start-up company in patent litigation involving contraceptive devices against a multinational company

Prior to joining Skadden, Dr. Hu was a litigation associate in the New York and Shanghai offices of an international law firm.
