Bio

Christopher Maduforo advises clients on a broad range of real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions; construction, development, infrastructure and hospitality projects; partnerships and joint ventures; ground leases; commercial and office leases; all types of real estate-based financings; and distressed asset workouts and restructurings.

Mr. Maduforo’s experience (including matters prior to joining Skadden) include:

  • JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. in connection with:
    • the restructuring of the $1.195 billion senior loan and $475 million mezzanine loan originated for the development of the American Dream Mall in New Jersey
    • a $250 million construction loan for the development of a retail and entertainment complex in Las Vegas
  • Silverstein Properties in connection with a $300 million mortgage financing and preferred equity investment for the acquisition of 55 Broad Street in New York, an office-to-residential conversion project
  • a sovereign wealth fund in connection with approximately $1 billion of financing for multiple portfolios of commercial real estate assets
  • MSD Partners in connection with a $172 million mortgage loan for a mixed-use development project in Oakland, California
  • a REIT in connection with a $102 million preferred equity investment in an entity that owns and operates multifamily communities
  • Brookfield Asset Management in connection with the sale of a 2.3 million-square-foot portfolio of lab office buildings to Blackstone
  • the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in the redevelopment of New York’s Penn Station
  • numerous real estate-related matters as part of corporate and restructuring transactions, including related to mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and corporate finance
  • numerous buyers and sellers in the origination of warehouse lending facilities

Additionally, Mr. Maduforo has worked on a variety of pro bono engagements, including advising the nonprofit organization Dream (f/k/a Harlem RBI) on its development of a new high school building, as well as counseling New York-based nonprofit organizations on real estate acquisitions, sales and leases.
