Bio

Patrick Stewart counsels companies and investors on compliance with complex national security and international trade regulations. Mr. Stewart advises a wide range of clients, from high-tech startups to established private and public companies, on issues relating to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), economic sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). He similarly advises global investors of all sizes on navigating regulations related to foreign investments in U.S. businesses, including representing them before CFIUS and helping them structure transactions to minimize their exposure to, and facilitate their compliance with, national security regulations. Mr. Stewart also helps clients obtain, and resolve issues related to, facility security clearances (FCLs) issued by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (FOCI). Mr. Stewart has deep experience in a variety of industries, including aerospace, advanced and on-demand manufacturing, semiconductors and life sciences.

Mr. Stewart also serves as a reserve officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
