Diversity & Inclusion
Founded as a three-lawyer shop in Manhattan in 1948, Skadden rose to prominence in the ’60s and ’70s by taking on the proxy fights and hostile tender offers that white-shoe law firms deemed “ungentlemanly.” We leveraged our success in that area to build one of the world’s preeminent law firms, offering clients in every major international financial center solutions to the most challenging legal issues in virtually every area of corporate law.
According to statistics from Lex Machina, Skadden served as defense counsel in more federal securities cases in the U.S. from 2009 to 2016 than any other firm.
We were named Law Firm of the Year — Overall, as well as Law Firm of the Year — Financing Transactions, at the third annual Real Estate Finance & Investment Awards (February 2017).
Skadden has been named a Firm of the Year for 2016 by Law360. We earned the designation by tying with one other firm for the most 2016 Practice Group of the Year awards received out of a total of 80 law firms. Skadden was honored with Practice Group of the Year awards in seven areas: Bankruptcy, Capital Markets, International Arbitration, Mergers and Acquisitions, Real Estate, Sports and Tax.
According to statistics from Lex Machina, a provider of law firm data analytics, Skadden resolved more federal securities cases as defense counsel in 2016 than any other law firm.
