Diversity & Inclusion
Founded as a three-lawyer shop in Manhattan in 1948, Skadden rose to prominence in the ’60s and ’70s by taking on the proxy fights and hostile tender offers that white-shoe law firms deemed “ungentlemanly.” We leveraged our success in that area to build one of the world’s preeminent law firms, offering clients in every major international financial center solutions to the most challenging legal issues in virtually every area of corporate law.
Skadden was recognized in the Financial Times' 2016 European "Innovative Lawyers" report, receiving a Standout ranking (the highest) in the Innovation in Navigating Regulation category, a Highly Commended ranking in the Innovation in Mergers and Acquisitions category, and a Commended ranking in the Innovation in Social Responsibility category.
Skadden was once again named as having one of the top three practices worldwide in Global Investigations Review's "GIR 30," a ranking of leading firms handling internal and government-led investigations.
Skadden's U.K. mergers and acquisitions practice was ranked in Tier 1 for M&A: Upper Mid-Market and Premium Deals, £250m+ by The Legal 500 UK (September 14, 2016). This was the first time The Legal 500 UK ranked a non-U.K. firm in its top tier for M&A work, and this was the second major U.K. directory to put Skadden in the top tier for M&A. The Legal 500 UK also ranked Skadden in Tier 1 for Corporate Crime and International Arbitration.
Skadden was named a Chairman's Club law firm — part of the "dominant tier in sports law" — in the SportsBusiness Journal's "Power Players: Outside Counsel" feature.
