Karyl Nairn, London-based co-head of international arbitration for Skadden in Europe, was appointed Queen's Counsel on February 27. She is the only solicitor advocate of the 84 selected this year and one of only three women solicitor advocates ever to have been appointed.
Ms. Nairn is a vice president of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and ranks in the highest tier for individual practitioners in international arbitration in Chambers UK. Last year, she led a Skadden team in securing a victory on behalf of Roman Abramovich in his $6 billion dispute with Boris Berezovsky, which was the largest case ever in the English Commercial Court and the largest private dispute in history.
