Bio

Mary E. Grinman concentrates her practice on complex civil litigation matters, with a particular focus on defense of putative ERISA class actions involving 401(k) plans. Ms. Grinman also has defended clients in litigations and government investigations involving contracts, securities and health care regulation issues.

Representative matters include:

  • multiple financial services companies and other defendants in putative class action litigations alleging claims of breach of fiduciary duty under ERISA;
  • an investment management firm in an investigation brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission;
  • an insurance company in several post-closing disputes arising out of its merger and acquisition activities;
  • a global consulting firm in an employment contract dispute with another consulting firm; and
  • a health care provider in a government investigation concerning billing practices.
Ms. Grinman also has an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on conditions of confinement, including representation of a Massachusetts state prisoner in a civil rights litigation in federal court and work with a nonprofit organization concerning immigration detainee rights.
