On April 18, Skadden held "Cross-Border M&A Conference 2016: Successfully Navigating Complex Acquisitions." The conference consisted of three sessions: "Japan M&A Overview — Trends and Practical Observations," focused on understanding current practices, deal drivers and challenges; "Carve-Outs — Strategies for the Smooth Transition of Soft Assets," focused on obtaining long-term operational and financial objectives through proper due diligence, transition planning and long-term ancillary agreements; and "Understanding Key Differences in Public and Private M&A Transactions," a comparative analysis by a panel of Skadden's global Japan practice leaders.

Guest speakers included Takashi Ishihara of SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc. and Kazuaki Kikuchi and Fentress Seagroves of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Skadden speakers included Jose Esteves, Nobuhisa Ishizuka, Mitsuhiro Kamiya, Kenton King, Erica Schohn, David Schwartz, James Talbot and Nicholas Tsai.
