Skadden held a seminar on May 4 in New York titled "How FIRPTA and REIT Changes Will Impact Investment in U.S. Real Estate." The seminar focused on how new changes in the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act will impact foreign investors, U.S. real estate owners and developers, and companies looking to maximize the value of their corporate real estate. Opening remarks were made by Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.). Guest speakers included Jeffrey DeBoer of The Real Estate Roundtable, Craig Solomon of Square Mile Capital Management LLC and Matthew Strotton of QIC Global Real Estate.
