Trump Tariffs: Impact on Contracts

On June 5, Skadden hosted the webinar “Trump Tariffs: Impact on Contracts,” which explored how tariffs affect commercial contracts, offered strategies for mitigating impacts and provided forward-looking guidance on how to structure contractual clauses to anticipate potential effects of tariffs. Speakers included Americas international litigation and arbitration head Julie Bédard, Chicago office head Nathaniel Carden, securities litigation co-deputy and New York litigation co-head Susan Saltzstein, Washington, D.C. international trade partner Brooks Allen and New York international litigation and arbitration partner Jennifer Permesly. Topics included an update on the status of the Trump administration’s tariffs; contract provisions that may be impacted by the tariffs; strategies for anticipating, negotiating and/or litigating tariff impacts on commercial relationships; and implications of contracting parties’ tax positions related to tariffs and mitigation duties.
