Hedge Fund and Private Equity Enforcement & Regulatory Developments 2026

On October 26, blockchain and digital assets co-head Daniel Michael spoke on the panel “Emerging Technology Risks for Private Funds” at Practising Law Institute’s Hedge Fund and Private Equity Enforcement & Regulatory Developments 2026 conference. The panel explored the SEC’s shift in enforcement focus from the scale of crypto assets toward emerging technologies issues — as well as the implications for private fund advisers — along with risks related to fraud involving AI, machine learning, online platforms and websites; the exposure or misappropriation of material nonpublic information through cyber hacking; and investor account takeovers.
