In this edition of our Privacy & Cybersecurity Update, we take a look at important developments, including an advisory opinion from the European Court of Justice that the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor should be declared invalid; an SEC enforcement action against a broker-dealer for failing to have proper cybersecurity policies and procedures; and the French data protection authority's expansion of the "right to be forgotten" to searches done from non-EU domains. We also note that October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month, initiated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance, an opportune time for companies to reassess their cybersecurity training, policies and procedures.
