Bio

Aleksander Aleksiev advises clients on technology regulation and cybersecurity incident responses.

Mr. Aleksiev focuses his practice on privacy, cybersecurity and internet safety regulations in the EU and U.K., such as the GDPR, AI Act, Online Safety Act, NIS Directive and DORA. He advises across the compliance life cycle, from initial filings to complex regulatory investigations, and has extensive experience counseling clients on sophisticated cross-border cyber incidents, including those involving ransomware.

In addition to his legal experience, he holds degrees in software engineering and finance, which he draws upon to provide clients with commercial and risk-based advice on complex regulatory and technological issues.

His recent experience includes advising:

  • prominent technology companies and financial institutions on compliance with European cybersecurity regulations, including DORA and the Cyber Resilience Act
  • major technology companies on engagement with European technology regulators, including with regard to reactive responses to regulatory investigations and proactive policy-shaping
  • a range of multinational companies on European privacy law issues, including complex data-sharing arrangements, new product launches, the negotiation of data protection agreements and the preparation of GDPR documentation
  • a cloud services provider on European regulatory issues associated with the rollout of novel AI products
  • a range of multinational companies on:
    • complex ransomware incidents, including on regulatory notifications and communications strategies
    • vendor breaches, including in connection with preparation for litigation against such vendors
    • preparation for cyber incidents through table-top cyber simulation exercises
