David M. Fish
Bio
Prior to joining Skadden, Mr. Fish served as the head of litigation for the Americas at Sumitomo Corporation of Americas, a diversified Japanese conglomerate, where he oversaw matters across the life sciences, chemicals, electronics, renewable energy, critical minerals, venture capital and steel sectors. In this role, Mr. Fish managed complex disputes, including mass tort litigations, turned around multibillion-dollar exposures through both in-court and out-of-court proceedings, and led companies through challenging acquisition and divestiture processes. Notably, he played a central role in achieving a first-of-its-kind resolution of talc-related liabilities under Section 524(g) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code for a Sumitomo subsidiary — an outcome regarded as a major development in mass tort restructuring.
Mr. Fish’s cross-border experience enables him to successfully represent a global client base, with an emphasis on companies in the Asia Pacific region, generally, and those in Japan, in particular.
Prior to his role at Sumitomo, Mr. Fish clerked for the Hon. Leo Glasser in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and worked as a litigation attorney at another global law firm.
