Skadden was among the law firms honored on July 14 with Global Legal Awards from The American Lawyer for their work on the following matters.
- Global M&A Deal of the Year: U.S. — Skadden represented Baxter International Inc., the former parent company of Baxalta Incorporated, in Baxalta's combination with Shire plc in a transaction valued at approximately $32 billion.
- Global M&A Deal of the Year: China — Skadden acted as U.S. legal counsel to the special committee of the board of directors of Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. in an investor consortium's all-cash acquisition of the company for approximately $9.3 billion, making it China's largest going-private transaction for a U.S.-listed company.
- Global M&A Deal of the Year: Europe — Skadden advised The Coca-Cola Company on tax aspects of the combination of its wholly owned subsidiary, Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG, with Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. and Coca-Cola Iberian Partners SA. The transaction created the world's largest independent Coca-Cola bottler.
According to Am Law, the awards recognize "the best cross-border work" since January 2015.
